Another Month has come, and we have more to celebrate! The highlights for August are:

  • Member Tracy SMASHES her first weightlifting comp

  • Successful Test weeks

  • Busy Classes & New Training Blocks

  • Run Club - Here to Stay

  • Coach Conor: Holiday & Reduced Timetable

Member Success Stories

Long-term member Tracy attended her first weightlifting competition and absolutely smashed it. You can see a summary video here. Having worked with Tracy for four years, seeing her go from someone who wasn't comfortable doing much more than cardio to getting in a lifting suit and ripping a 100kg+ from the floor really goes to show what can be achieved with consistently showing up for yourself. She really is super gran.

Additionally, several amazing PBs were grabbed in test week and the surrounding classes

Ali, with her 114 Burpees in 7 minutes, left me reeling, and Zahra, who's only been with us a few short months, has shown incredible progress with deadlifts & Olympic movements.

From my PT clients, Scott Loftus stood up a whopping 165kg squat like it wasn't even an issue. Both my Simons pulled great numbers in their test week across all their compound lifts. I am always so buzzing every time I see that little PR number pop up on WODUp!

Just remember to celebrate every win with yourself; it's all progress, and every win stacks alongside your overall progress. Week on week, I see more and more PR symbols against people's workouts - the hard work is indeed paying off!

We Grow and Grow and Grow...

August was the busiest month to date across all of Persevere's services. From classes to Massage, from memberships to ClassPass drop-ins. New faces signed up, and some old faces returned (Craig and Cassie). People come, enjoy the class, and then come back; that's down to the welcoming community WE create.

I don't think you all realise I do a happy wiggle dance EVERY TIME someone books into class, and if they book back in, I do cartwheels!

In addition to my busy classes, I have recently partnered to provide an official sponsorship to a local women's football team. They'll be in weekly for Strength & Conditioning to help them on and off the pitch. Its a really exciting opportunity to give back to the local community and continue to develop working with athletes. They are a lovely bunch and we've already had 3 sessions with them. You might see them around on Tuesdays if you are around at ESC. The classes im offering to them are already full! Which is a ringing endorsement. So yes we are now all officially fans! https://www.edinburghcaledoniafc.co.uk/

Run Club

You asked, so I made it happen. Sunday 16th was our FIRST run club. The goal is simply to get out, move, and be together. It's open to all, not just our members, and a chance to meet people where they are at. The focus for now is 30-40 minute easy runs. In time we'll vary the tempos, distances, and effort, but for now growing people's aerobic base with gentler runs is no bad thing. If you want to go faster and feel like you've got a bigger engine for cardio. Then get comfortable moving at an easy pace.

Run club will run every Sunday (from 30th August) from 12pm.

Holiday & Reduced Schedule.

Monday 17th August is the last coached class until Friday 28th of August.

I love coaching classes, but I am very excited for a week away. I have had some interest in some non-coached classes on the timetable. These will be Wednesday the 19th and Saturday the 22nd. The class will still take place at the same time, and the workout will be in WodUp. However, the class will have no coached element.

There will be no charge or credit use in bSport for this, and the usual capacity rules apply. However, you will still need to book in via bSport.

To all PT clients, your programs should be in as normal, though no immediate feedback between now and my return Happy to pick up anything once back, any changes or requests will fold into my next full admin day, Sunday the 30th. Though ill try to get back to folks with any messages from the 27th.

And with that, I am officially out of office

Coach Conor
